The Comprehensive Certification Difference

Our Training Team

BodyWave Pilates instructors hold national certifications entailing over 600 hours of training, observation and anatomy study. This level of comprehensive training affords our instructors the ability to modify exercises to cater to different body types and abilities, making Pilates available to everyone.

"The combination of core strengthening and stretching is the best thing I could have done as ‘therapy’ and I can’t imagine every quitting. Pilates has increased my flexibility and improved my posture. I highly recommend Pilates to anyone with back pain or is looking for a different approach for strengthening and toning the body. "

BodyWave Pilates Studio is a teacher training site for the respected Pilates Core Integration Certification Program.
The Pilates Core Integration Teacher Training Program, designed by Virginia Nicholas, teaches the traditional Pilates Method using the same approach taught by Eve Gentry and Michele Larsson.

For 10 years, Virginia worked closely with Michele Larsson of Core Dynamics Pilates as one of six hand picked affiliate teacher training locations. Pilates Core Integration (PCI) is classical Pilates, infused with the rehabilitative genius of Eve Gentry and current knowledge about the body and mind.

Pilates Core Integration (PCI) will give students the knowledge and experience to teach Pilates for fitness and body-mind integration. The training program will include exercises on the mat and five main pieces of equipment. The exercises will range from the fundamental to the advanced level.

Comprehensive Certification

The PCI Comprehensive Teacher Training Program consists of:
  • Four 3-day weekend mat and equipment workshops
  • Anatomy workshop
  • Apprenticeship at BodyWave Pilates Studio or an approved studio
  • Final tests

The weekend workshops include Pilates exercises, anatomy related to movement, Pilates history, practice teaching, reading assignments and homework. This aspect of the training covers material from fundamental to advanced levels on the mat and five main pieces of Pilates equipment. In the apprenticeship component, students obtain required hours of personal practice, observation/assist and student teaching.

The final exam includes a written test, reformer performance, teaching a 55-minute mat class and a 55-minute private session. Completion of the PCI Comprehensive Program takes approximately 12 months.
